QEII rocks as style icon!

The fashion-conscious in Mumbai agree that Queen Elizabeth II is glamourous.
QEII rocks as style icon!
doweshowbellyad=0; Queen Elizabeth II More picsShe’s known for her rather sombre, staid body language and elegant, yet restrained sense of style that has typified her over the last five decades of her reign as England’s sovereign.
But Queen Elizabeth II as a glamour icon? Now, now, don’t go doing that double take! A prominent beauty magazine has included the 81-year-old monarch on its 50-name “Definitive List of Today’s Glamourous Women”, calling her “as glamourous in her brogues and headscarf in Balmoral as she is wearing the crown jewels”.
While many might still find it hard to digest the Queen’s latest ‘title’, a few of our glamzone’s denizens couldn’t agree more that yes, the Queen does spell glamour in big jewel encrusted alphabets!
Having met Her Royal Highness up close and personal, Britain’s current darling Shilpa Shetty is all praise for what she calls the Queen’s “indomitable style”.
“Of course, she is glamourous. She has an original style and she is an icon from the older generation,” says Shilpa. Agreeing with Shilpa is designer Rocky S. “She carries herself with a lot of dignity and this in itself makes her a stylish personality. More than the fashion element it’s the confidence she exudes that makes her glamourous,” feels Rocky.
Consistency in the Queen’s appearance and dressing makes her a glamour icon according to designer Anna Singh.

“The Queen has a very strong, classic style which is accentuated by the most fabulous jewels,,” says Anna. Another designer who gives the Queen her vote of approval in the glamour department is Maheka Mirpuri. Opines Maheka. “Her clothes and poise reflect power, and so in a political category, she is the apt choice.”
Of the opinion that the Queen influences the way a lot of older women dress is designer Gayatri Khanna. “Her style has always been very classic, elegant, chic and yet subtle. One can see from her how to wear solid coloured ensembles in classic cuts and skirt suits, to come across as a classy, mature woman which however might not work very well for a younger lady,” says Gayatri.
Giving us a little different take on the Queen glamour quotient is designer Azeem Khan, who while agreeing that the Queen “is stoic in her appearance and immaculate in her dressing,” feels that “despite all of this she isn’t a style icon according to me. For me Lady Diana was more of a style icon and today I would consider another Queen — Queen Rania of Jordan as a major style icon.”
So while the Queen might be in danger of losing her titles to another Queen, for the time being QEII rocks in the style department — and how!!
